InSPIRES Summer School in Bolivia: «Jornadas de Ciencia y Comunidad»

The InSPIRES Summer School in Bolivia, named “Jornadas de Ciencia y Comunidad” and initially planned for April 2020, had to be postponed to 08-10 of April 2021. It took place following restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and with a reduced number of participants selected among researchers from various careers of UMSS University of Cochabamba and students from the Scientific Society of students from the UMSS Faculty of Medicine.

The workshop has gathered a total of 44 participants: 24 participants the 1° day and 20 the 2° day, distributed in three working groups: each group was suggested a different approach. The last activity was the card game of the different stages of the science shop process that the CEADES Foundation has translated into Spanish from the original game developed by our partner UdL.

At the same time, on 08, 09 and 10 April, virtual sessions were organised to compile science shop experiences in Latin America: these sessions brought together 15 speakers from seven countries. A total of 330 participants (100+160+70) took part during the three days. These activities were very enriching and allowed to reinforce the mutual knowledge between academics and civil society participants, mainly from Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, and Spain.
