Institut Pasteur Tunis (IPT)
Created in 1893 IPT is a public health institution overseen by the Ministry of Health. It has three missions (Public health and diagnostis, Manufacturing of vaccines and sera, Research and training). IPT plays an important role in policy dialogue at national and international levels; its Director General and scientific staff members are on advisory boards of the Ministry of Health on issues related to health policy and scientific research and technology; eg in case of infectious and genetic diseases. Staff members participate to evaluation and advisory panels in diverse national and international instances including TDR and WHO-EMRO. IPT is member of many regional and international network, Institut Pasteur International Network, ANDI, H3ABionet, NEPAD, Regional (EMRO) training center (WHO-TDR), etc. In this context, IPT welcomes researchers and students from North and Sub-Saharan Africa, and also Middle East.
Role in the Project
IPT will set up and implement a SS structure and science shops projects (WP3 and WP4) in collaboration with the Center for Research and Water Technologies. They will be InSPIRES gateway to the African continent. As a member of several regional and international networks, IPT will be the main partner in developing the SS North-African hub. They will also actively contribute to the organization of training activities (WP5) and to the dissemination and communication activities (WP7).
