Dr. Bud Hall opens InSPIRES Summer School, a year-long awaited event that will broadcast several Science Shop and Community Based Research conferences live in Spanish, from Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Together with Dr. Rajesh Tandon, as Co-Chairs of the UNESCO Chair in Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education, Dr. Hall has recently published a Manifesto, which addresses “(…) a number of persistent and complex common realities (faced in this) remarkable, contradictory and troubled planet that we live, work, love, struggle, resist and survive”.
As recently remarked by our colleagues of the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNI Network), the Manifesto “outlines the purpose of knowledge and sets forth the idea that ‘new forms of knowledge legitimation in support of the public good’ necessitate renewed support”.
With bases at the University of Victoria, Canada, and at the Society for Participatory Research in Asia, India, the UNESCO Chair in Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education “supports North-South-South and South-South partnerships that build on and enhance the emerging consensus in knowledge democracy”.
The Manifesto “Knowledge, Action and Hope” can be read here in English and Spanish.
