8-10 April — InSPIRES Summer School in Bolivia

The main objective of the conference is to disseminate the concepts and methodology of Community Engaged Research under the "Science Shop" model.

The CEADES Foundation (Cochabamba, Bolivia), partner of the InSPIRES consortium, invites the university community and interested researchers to participate in the International Conference on Community Engaged Research, to be held in Cochabamba, Bolivia, from April 8 to 10, 2021.

The main objective of the conference is to disseminate the concepts and methodology of Community Engaged Research under the “Science Shop” model (which in Bolivia has been translated as “Encounter between Science and Society”) in Latin America. It is also intended to consolidate a network of researchers and students committed and capable of responding to demands emanating from organized civil society, particularly the most vulnerable groups, on issues related to health and the environment.

This semi-face-to-face event will bring together researchers and students to discuss different innovative forms of participatory research, adapted to the most pressing problems of our societies.

The virtual component of the summer school offers several conferences in which theoretical concepts and experiences of community participatory research carried out in Bolivia and other countries of the American continent, as well as in Spain (15 speakers in seven countries) will be presented. The conferences will be held on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 April in the afternoon (from 6 to 8 p.m. Bolivian time) and on Saturday 10 April in the morning (Bolivian time).

The face-to-face component of the summer school (with limited places due to the COVID 19 pandemic) joins three groups of seven researchers and students from the Universidad Mayor de San Simón (Cochabamba) with the objective of studying the “Science Shop” model and its application in the Bolivian context. This meeting will take place on Thursday, April 8 and Friday, April 9.
